With July marking the start of the new fiscal year, and oftentimes, new pastoral assignments, it is the most common month for dioceses to establish new parishes. The Phoenix Diocese has 13 of its 92 parishes marking another year of service to local Catholics this month. May saw 11 parish birthdays and June had 10. [...]

St. Thomas More feast day

PARISH FACTS: Established July 1, 1997 with the founding pastor, Fr. James Turner, still leading parishioners. Likely the only diocesan parish to still have its founding pastor at the helm. Parish waited three months for an elementary school to be finished so it could have a temporary spot for Mass. Roughly 200 families showed up. [...]
