Weekend calendar: Feb. 10-12
Another good time to be an Arizona Catholic! Don’t forget the Centennial exhibit starts this weekend. Plus a family story-time/book drive, high school theater, Mass for the sick and their caregivers and learning to move from debate to dialogue on the abortion issue.
Fundraising dinner — Feb. 10 at St. Peter Indian School in Bapchule. Cocktails are at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the school which has ongoing financial needs for tuition, sisters’ salaries, upkeep of buses and more. Details: (602) 354-2043.
Milk and bookies — 6 p.m. Feb. 10 at St. Theresa Parish (Thomas Road west of 52nd St.) in Phoenix. This combination story-time and book drive (view animation of the process) benefits UMOM, a local family homeless shelter. Local children’s author Conrad Storad will read to the children. The Drowsy Chaperone musical — 7 p.m. Feb. 10-11 and 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at Notre Dame Preparatory in Scottsdale. Details.
The Wizard of Oz — Feb. 10-12 at Seton Catholic Preparatory High School in Chandler. Curtain is at 7 p.m. Feb. 10-11 and 3 p.m. Feb. 12. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 students. Also, 7 p.m. Feb. 17-18. Details on poster.
Centennial exhibit — 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Feb. 12 at St. Mary’s Basilica in downtown Phoenix. Find photos, homilies and other archival records of the first 100 years of Catholics in Arizona.
Also 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 13 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 14 with Mass at noon. Details.
Centennial stories — 3-4 p.m. Feb. 12 on 960AM or online. Hear St. Theresa’s sixth-grade students talking with the show’s host about Arizona facts and stories. Facebook photo of recording in the classroom.
Abortion: From Debate to Dialogue — noon-5:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Arizona State University in Tempe. Justice For All’s nationally-acclaimed pro-life ambassadorship training program. Includes lunch. Event page and flyer. The group recently spent time at St. Mary’s High School and Xavier College Preparatory.

Mass for World Day of the Sick — 1:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at St. Theresa Parish (Thomas Road west of 52nd St) in Phoenix. The Knights of Malta host the annual Mass at a different parish each year. Eat at America’s Taco Shop — 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Feb. 11 at America’s Taco Shop (101 and Via de Ventura) in Scottsdale. All proceeds benefit Notre Dame Prep’s prom and Team Bemis. Details.
