The 1985 varsity football team at St. Mary’s is having a reunion of sorts today. The Arizona Interscholastic Association will honor the team and former coach, Pat Farrell during halftime of this afternoon’s 5A Division I state championship game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Kickoff is at 4:10 p.m.

The Knights went undefeated in 1985 winning the state championship for the second year in a row, the fourth since the Arizona Interscholastic Association started keeping track in 1959.

The Knights captured additional state football titles in 1991 and 1995 as well as the runner up spot in 1994, all under Farrell’s leadership. Farrell led the team to playoff games in 22 of his 26 years as coach.
