“Lourdes” — 8-10 p.m. EDT Aug. 28 on EWTN. The first of a two-part program exploring the life of St. Bernadette Soubirous (1844-1879), the visionary of Lourdes, France, and the vast impact she has had in the lives of others. Profile concludes Wed. Sept. 1.
Singles group reunion anniversary — 5:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Mount Claret. Join current and “CRYed” out members of the Catholic Retreat for Young Singles group for a special evening celebrating vocations. Celebrate the vocations of single life, marriage, religious life and priesthood fostered by this ministry. Hear a letter from Fr. Alberto Ruiz, founder, and the 17-year-old ministry’s link with the Cursillo Movement. Tapas dinner, silent auction, memorabilia display and more. $18 single, $25 per couple.

St. Philomena Mother-Daughter retreat — Aug. 27-29 at the Scottsdale Resort/Conference Center. SOLD OUT For young women ages 11-14 and their moms. St. Philomena Outreach and JPII Resource Center will talk about “The Gift,” a context for God’s plan in puberty and marital union according to theology of body.
Pastoral Theology students recognized — 11 a.m. Mass Aug. 29 at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Parish in Anthem. Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted and St. Rose Philippine Duchesne parishioners will recognize five local Catholics, including a deacon, for extensive work in 12 classes aimed at certifications and master degrees in pastoral theology through Loyola University in New Orleans.
Nurse of the Year Awards — Aug. 28 at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown. Patients, peers and administrators nominated the finalists for the award presented by the March of Dimes Arizona Chapter.
