My papal persona
I recently changed personas. Every time I surf the Internet using my Firefox browser, I now have the papal flag hanging over me (as well as the creed in Latin across the bottom of my browser). According to Firefox’s Personas page, I’m one of eight people worldwide decorating my browser window in this fashion.
I hope that I will be one of far more than that shortly, especially with World Youth Day getting underway at this time next year in Madrid, Spain. That’s when hundreds of thousands of Catholic youth and young adults will be shouting the pope’s name and waving their flags (and possibly the Vatican’s) as they did in Australia two years ago.
Some 25,000 Americans, including youth and young adults from at least a handful of parishes throughout the diocese, planning to attend World Youth Day Aug. 16-21 in Spain. Many are also planning pilgrimages to surrounding countries.
Wherever their pilgrimage takes, them, a year will fly by as the latest video promoting World Youth Day Madrid points out:
A textile machinery near Madrid also knows that a year will fly by. It’s already in production of the 11,000 vestments World Youth Day organizers ordered for its priests and bishops to wear while during main liturgical events. Private donations are covering the costs. The chasubles will be donated to dioceses and churches with scarce resources.
