Weekend calendar July 16-18

Posted by : ambria

A big weekend for the Phoenix Diocese. Its first auxiliary bishop will be ordained Monday, so there’s lots of set up for that. Beyond that historic event, there are a few other happenings to keep in mind:

July 16-18

Our Lady of Guadalupe Home School Conference — July 16-17 at Diocesan Pastoral Center. Includes Mass with Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted 9 a.m. July 17.

40 years of the Diocese of Phoenix — 7 p.m. July 17 at St. Joseph Parish. Jim Neal, former archivist for the diocese, will present an overview of the diocese’s formation 40 years ago and key events since then. Event is geared toward Single Souls group. For details, call Dan (480) 941-5952. Can’t be there? Order your copy of the diocese’s first history book.

Water drive — July 17-18 at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Gilbert/Higley. The parish is collecting 12-16-ounce water bottles to donate to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. The water will help keep the homeless hydrated during these triple digit days. Learn how to organize your own drive.

Electronicfest — 5:30-10 a.m. July 18 at Scottsdale Pavilions. Shop for or donate new, refurbished and used computers and related equipment at this monthly event organized by the Boy Scouts based at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Scottsdale. Event takes place near the 5&Diner at Scottsdale Pavillions, 9062 E. Indian Bend Road.
