One step closer to priesthood
After nearly a year as an acolyte, seminarian Cody McDonald will officially become one step closer to the priesthood Sunday. McDonald will be ordained a transitional deacon during the live TV Mass at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral.
The liturgy begins at 9 a.m. and is available (as are all weekly liturgies from the cathedral) in the following formats:
- in person at 6351 N. 27th Avenue in Phoenix
- on KAZT-TV Channel 7, Cable 13
- on Immaculate Heart Radio 1310 AM
- online, thanks to Skyline Productions and a host of Catholic sponsors
McDonald was admitted to the ministry of the acolyte last August. That role allowed him to minister the Eucharist, serve at the altar and bring the Blessed Sacrament to the sick and home bound.

McDonald is on track to be ordained a priest in 2011.
