Shannon O’Connor, a student at the All Saints Catholic Newman Center in Tempe, has been aiding rebuilding efforts annually since the hurricane hit land. Here is part of her reflection from her latest trip:
There was never a moment where physical work wasn’t necessary or, on the contrary, when sitting down and listening was pointless. The progress is not always visible, but sometimes internally understood and known. The city of New Orleans needs both: physical labor and the attention span of more than a news brief.
