PBS is running an intriguing documentary tonight on a legendary inner city basketball coach.
“The Street Stops Here,” which airs tonight at 10 if you get Arizona’s PBS, profiles Bob Hurley, basketball coach at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, N.J. He’s led the team to 23 state championships and three national championships since 1972, all while working a full-time job as a parole officer.

If you catch the full feature (or order your own copy), you can relive the team’s 2007-08 season. It’s the year that the team pursues its 23rd state championship and that the inner-city school, which subsists on donations, tries to raise enough funds to stay open for another year.
While we’re talking baseball, I found out last week that our own St. Mary’s High School retired Channing Frye’s (plays center for the Phoenix Suns) high school jersey in January. Here is that video:
