U.S. premiere of “Pride and Prejudice” tomorrow in Phoenix
Jane Austen lovers can finally see a classic story come to life on a U.S. stage.
The theatre departments at Brophy and Xavier College preparatories are starring in the U.S. premiere of “Pride and Prejudice” March 4-6.
This well loved story takes place in 1813 England. Five daughters anxious to find five husbands learn about themselves, their family, others, and the debilitating nature of the ever-present pride and prejudice in their restrictive culture.
The play, adapted for the stage by Tom Wood, features 34 cast members from freshmen to seniors. Like most school productions, the students are assisting with design and execution of the production’s technical aspects.
Show times are at 7 p.m. each night with a 1:30 p.m. matinee March 6. Tickets are $7 each for general seating and are available at the door or in advance at (602) 240-3161.
Performances are in the Kemper and Ethel Marley Theatre in the Virginia G. Piper Performing Arts Center located on the Xavier campus, 4710 N. 5th St.
