Seminarian midterms
Steven Torres, a first-year seminarian at the Pontifical College Josephinum and a Bourgade alumnus, just sent me this photo and the following message. Thought I’d share it as well as the request for continued prayers as midterms, essays and projects culminate this week (in this Year for Priests, these prayers for seminarians from The Curé d’Ars Prayer Group seemed worthwhile to share):
Dominican Mother Mary Assumpta Long, foundress of a religious community, met with Phoenix seminarians Steven Torres (Phoenix) and Buddy Shea (Nashville) last week. (courtesy photo)
Friday, I had the pleasure to meet and have lunch with Mother Assumpta Long, O.P. the foundress and prioress of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She brought Sister Amata Veritas, O.P. along with her. After giving Mother and Sister a tour of seminary Buddy Shea (seminarian of Nashville, TN) and I took them out to lunch.
It was truly an amazing day and quite a blessing to meet Mother Assumpta and speak with her about the call to establish a new community outside of her home at the St. Cecilia Motherhouse in Nashville.
May you have a blessed Lenten Season.
If the name of this order sounds familiar, perhaps you caught the order’s appearance on Oprah last month.
Or, you may be a loyal Catholic Sun reader who remembers that Phoenix was the order’s first missionary site. To read a bit more about the ministry the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist have in Phoenix, check out our related articles:
