Sports Faith Hall of Fame
If you haven’t heard of the Sports Faith Hall of Fame yet, don’t be discouraged. It’s only been around for two years.

A local Knights of Columbus member staffed a council-run concession stand during a 2006 Arizona Cardinals game.
But on the bright side, we already have a local face inside of it. Bill Bidwill, owner of the Arizona Cardinals and philanthropist, was inducted Sunday.
Bidwwill’s long-time contributions to the Cardinals, the NFL and charity earned him that spot. His charity work was “conducted in a very quiet, very generous manner,” said Patrick McCaskey, chairman of the Sports Faith International Advisory Board.
Bidwill was one of four 2010 inductees (here’s a musical slideshow of it). He joined:
- Brian Piccolo — former Chicago Bears running back whose battle with cancer and friendship with Gale Sayers were chronicled in the movie “Brian’s Song”
- Tom Monaghan — founder of Domino’s Pizza and former owner of the Detroit Tigers
- John Gagliardi — head football coach at St. John’s University in Minnesota and college football’s all-time leader in wins
The Sports Faith Hall of Fame, in Lake Forest, Ill., was created to recognize and encourage outstanding sports figures who are exemplary role models. It’s a project of Sports Faith International.
The organization makes programs for Catholic and mainstream media networks that feature some of the biggest names in the world of sports.
One Comment so far ...
Hey, just wanted to let you know Mr. Monaghan is also a former owner of Domino’s, he sold the company 12 years ago. Cheers.
