Bob Brown now permanent face at Catholic Charities
Early last month, we broke the news that Catholic Charities Community Services, which serves central and northern Arizona, named Bob Brown as the interim CEO. The organization needed a new leader because Paul Martodam, who headed the organization for years, decided to move to a cooler climate.
We just got news that Bob Brown is here to stay. Catholic Charities’ Board of Directors, as well as Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, just approved Brown as the permanent CEO of the multi-faceted social service organization.
From the news release:
“We are extremely fortunate to have someone of Bob’s caliber in place to assume leadership in this time of great human need,” said Steve Lasswell, Catholic Charities board president. “Bob has what it takes to help us to expand our impact in Arizona and further our mission to protect and nurture children, strengthen families and support people in crisis.”
Brown joined Catholic Charities Community Services in January 2008 as chief administrative officer because he felt a “calling” to give back to the community instead of remaining in the corporate world. He looks forward to expanding the use of his talents and experience in his new position in Phoenix, the release said.
“It’s not just about the number of people we serve—it is about how their lives are better because we were able to help them discover and foster the resources within themselves to permanently improve their situation,” Brown said.
Brown has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Bonaventure University and a Master’s of Business Administration from State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a member of the Business Advisory Council for the School of Business at St. Bonaventure University and a Board Member for the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale.
