New blog reaches fallen away Catholics

Posted by : ambria

I happened to run across a relatively new blog today. It’s from Catholics Come Home, the lay apostolate that uses Mass media– namely TV commercials  and an interactive Web site– to reach fallen away Catholics.

The lay apostolate launched a companion blog this month with teaching and tips for all Catholics.

The lay apostolate launched a companion blog this month with teaching and tips for all Catholics.

CatholicsComeHome.org has been a domain name since 2004 and went live in 2008. People in every U.S. state and some 80 countries logged on. Its companion blog, blog.catholicscomehome.org, launched earlier this month.

If the name Catholics Come Home sounds familiar, it should. A series of television commercials aired on major networks in the Diocese of Phoenix last year. Revisit those articles if you’d like:

The Phoenix test market went well. This Advent, those commercials are airing in the dioceses of Sacramento (Stockton, Chico-Redding), Colorado Springs (Pueblo), Omaha, Lincoln, Chicago, Rockford, Joliette, and Providence.

A series of radio commercials are also playing on Immaculate Heart Radio stations. It was one of the first things I heard when the 24/7 radio station launched in Phoenix last week. I even recognized the voices of local Catholics in the commercials who once fell away from the faith and came back.

Check out the Catholics Come Home blog every now and then. You’ll find good reading even if you’re an active churchgoer. Recent posts shed light on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a deeper understanding of the Mass and prayer ideas.

It also reminds active Catholics to pray for those who have fallen away and to be inviting whenever they see those biannual Catholics, whether it’s this Christmas, Easter, or another feast.

Hi Ambria. Thanks for the update. I saw the Catholics Come Home commercials when they first came out. I thought they were very well done. All the best.
