The month of November is quickly coming to an end and with it, the end of the month which Catholics pray in a special way for the departed.

Catholics pray especially for the faithful departed every November. That includes the often forgotten who died homeless.

Parishes throughout the diocese have displayed photos of the faithfully departed that relatives brought in and priests have remembered the names in the Book of Life in their liturgies.

Tonight, Brophy students also remembered those others often forget. A bulletin announcement said the school’s campus ministry planned to travel to the White Tank Cemetery this evening for the annual Homeless Memorial Service.

AndrĂ© House hosts the annual event on Thanksgiving Eve so that the homeless will not have died without dignity. AndrĂ© House staff leads a prayer service for the deceased homeless so that they too have prayers as they enter the kingdom of God. Here’s what happened at the 2006 event.

On another note, other Brophy students planned a day trip to the Kino Border Initiative today.
