Weekend calendar

Just like last weekend, there are a few opportunities for Catholics to be out and about, inspired and healed:
-
Perpetual adoration begins — As part of Christ the King’s 50th anniversary celebration, the parish will begin perpetual adoration in the St. Peregrine Shrine which the bishop dedicated Nov. 14. Perpetual adoration begins after the 5 p.m. Mass Nov. 22.
- Taize prayer — St. Mary’s Basilica will host this prayer service in honor of the faithful departed, who Catholics have been praying for all month. Features prayer around the cross, candles, chants and a Litany of the Deceased.
- Mexican dinner — If you have one of the limited edition tickets to a Mexican dinner prepared and hosted by St. Jerome eighth graders, your meal awaits you Sunday afternoon. Proceeds from the dinner and the auction and raffle will support a refugee family in Phoenix.
- Mass for Reconciliation and Healing — Offered by Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted 5 p.m. Nov. 21 at St. Mary Parish in Kingman. The recurring liturgy is for those who have been victimized by clergy, friends and family members. The bishop offered a similar Mass in the Valley this spring.
- Is it Possible to Live this Way? — The late Msgr. Luigi Giussani, who founded the Catholic lay movement Communion and Liberation in Italy, often addressed young people who have consecrated their life in the Church. This book is a compilation of his conversations with them and speaks of hope in the context of faith and reason. Damian Bacich, a professor at San Jose University, will discuss the book at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at St. Maria Goretti Parish in Scottsdale.
