‘Up’ out on DVD
Want to see what kind of adventure waits when a young boy stows away on a helium balloon that isn’t launched for publicity’s sake?
Check out “Up,” which hit Redbox rental stations yesterday. Our Rebecca Bostic reviewed the film when it hit theaters this summer. Here’s an excerpt:
On all technical levels — animation, voice recording, writing, directing — “Up” is without flaw. The dialogue is witty, jokes are sharp and the irony is poignant. The adventure Carl and Russell embark on is secondary to the emotional road the two travel together.
“Up” is fun without being lighthearted.
“Up” is the story of a widower and a young boy who fly, via thousands of balloons, to South America. There’s lessons for all on love and loss, marriage, friendship and perseverance according to the USCCB’s Office for Film and Broadcasting.
