BAPCHULE — Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted and former major leaguer Joe Garagiola will be among the special guests at St. Peter Mission School today.

The bishop is offering a Mass for 200 students at the school and the Franciscan sisters who run it,  in honor of Garagiola’s 60th anniversary. Garagiola, for whom the school’s learning center is named, is a regular supporter of the school.

I would imagine that the Mass will also mark the first anniversary of dedicating the school’s Garagiola Learning Center — Where Every Child is a Gift, which the bishop blessed Nov. 2, 2008.
