Maggie’s Place updates

Posted by : ambria

With thousands of people joining in yesterday’s Pro-life Day of Silent Solidarity in defense of the aborted unborn, I figured a look at how life is for women whose crisis pregnancy ended with the birth, and for many, raising of their baby, would be appropriate.

All five Maggie's Place homes are bustling with new life during this Respect Life Month. More babies are due soon.

All five Maggie's Place homes are bustling with new life during this Respect Life Month. More babies are due soon.

Luckily, my Maggie’s Place e-newsletter was waiting for me in my inbox. Maggie’s Place, which turns 10 next year, operates five houses of hospitality throughout the country.

They’re strictly for pregnant women and their babies up to six months old who would otherwise face pregnancy and possibly early motherhood alone (some Maggie’s Place moms place their baby for adoption).

Here’s what’s happening in some of the homes:

  • The Mary House in Idaho will celebrate its first anniversary this weekend. The staff has helped 22 women carry their baby to term. One of its newest mom to live in the house is just finishing her high school degree. Several moms in the house recently found jobs.
  • The third baby to join the Zechariah House — the youngest in the Maggie’s Place family — is due at the end of the month. Five moms have received pregnancy, spiritual and practical support since the Zechariah House opened in Cleveland, Ohio this summer.
  • The first set of twins was born to a Michael House mom since it opened in Glendale, Arizona two and a half years ago.
