Silence today

Posted by : ambria

If some of the people around your work or school seem unusually silent today, there’s good reason for it.

Students at 80 schools in Arizona are joining more than 3,700 nationwide in the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity today. They’re not speaking today as a visual reminder of the 50 million voices that have fallen silent since 1973 when abortion was made legal.

Could you go one day without speaking in honor of millions of aborted babies who never had the chance?

Students at four Catholic schools are among 80 schools statewide not talking today. But their actions will speak louder than words.

The students are wearing red arm bands and have the option of wearing red duct tape across their mouth with “life” written across it. They’ll “speak out” about their purpose through fliers.

I just skimmed some of last year’s testimonies and it’s pretty moving. Some people even felt called to break their silence because high school girls considering an abortion wanted to talk. At least 16 girls then cancelled their appointments according to one of the answers in the FAQ’s page.

Here are some of the Catholic schools participating in the Phoenix area:

  • Most Holy Trinity
  • Notre Dame Preparatory in Scottsdale
  • St. Mary’s High School – Youth 4 Life Club
  • Xavier College Preparatory

A slew of public schools throughout Arizona (many of which I recognized as being in the Valley), are participating too.
