Bishop dedicates newest Catholic school
Sharon Pristash, principal of the new Annunciation Catholic School in Cave Creek, e-mailed me this photo last week. I hoped to share it sooner, but had a series of personal setbacks that largely kept me out of the office.
Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted blessed and dedicated the school Sept. 23. He led a procession that included Fr. Dennis, O’Rourke, VF, pastor of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, the principal and I would guess the entire student body.
The school opened in August to first and second graders, but will ultimately expand to offer a k-8 curriculum. Annunciation For a two-grade school, it’s pretty large boasting two classrooms and an enrichment center that includes a hand-decorated art room, a computer lab and library.
I remember getting a private tour of the school shortly before it opened and learned that a lot of its materials, desks and such were hand-me-downs from other schools. To continue to support teacher, student and classroom development, Annunciation Catholic School recently launched its annual appeal.
The goal is $100,000.
