More on ACT scores
So like with many stories these days, the printed version of the story on local Catholic school students hitting a five-year high on the ACT was much shorter than the original. While we printed the key points, we ran out of room to profile specific ACT prep info we got from staff and students.

Kayli Rosenberger is among many diocesan students who excel on the ACT each year.
Here is some of that info:
“I figured I’d take it once and if I wanted to take it again, I’d do more prepping,” said Kayli Rosenberger, a senior at Notre Dame Preparatory in Scottsdale.
Rosenberger ended up in the 98th percentile nationally on her first try. She only “studied” by reading about the test’s structure from an ACT book.
Other Notre Dame and ACT facts:
- Notre Dame offers 13 AP classes and 22 honors classes.
- Zach Romo, a senior, drastically increased his score the second time around although he scored above the diocesan average the first time too. He now ranks in the 99th percentile nationally.
Take a sample ACT test. Choose from English, reading, science and math. Then read how Xavier students prepare.
At Xavier College Preparatory:
- Students start thinking about the ACT as freshmen. They take two pre-tests by the end of their sophomore year and work on their own from a test prep book during their junior year.
- Joanne Arcangelo, director of student personnel services and the Guidance Department at Xavier, said students score well on the ACT because of the rigorous coursework and their high motivation to study on their own.
- By senior year, every student has taken at least one Advanced Placement course with many students taking up to five AP courses at once.
