Vianney drama premieres today

Posted by : ambria

Today marks the feast of St. John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests, who will soon become the patron saint of all priests. St. John Vianney’s name has rightly come to the forefront since the Year for Priests began June 19.

To share and celebrate the story of “one of the greatest shepherds in Church history,” St. Luke Productions is lunching the worldwide tour of “Vianney” today. The one-man drama stars Leonardo Defilippis, founder and president of St. Luke Productions, the production company that has brought the life of Christ and saints such as Therese Lisieux to DVD, feature film and stages for three decades.

The “Vianney” drama focuses on the question, “What is a priest?” and tells the story of St. John Vianney, who Defilippis spent two years researching as he wrote the script. Here’s the trailer:

“Vianney” opens in Houston today with several more shows scheduled throughout the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston before coming to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and Diocese of Lexington in September.  “Vianney” also travels to Maryland and the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in October and November before coming to the Diocese of Phoenix Nov. 8-13 or Nov. 9-14.
