Members of the Bishop's Venturing Crew, a joint effort with the diocesan committee on Catholic Scouting and the local Serra Club, served the annual seminarian picnic July 26.

The Serra Club of Phoenix hosted its annual seminarian picnic July 26. Families of the future priests were also invited.

For the first time since the Bishop’s Crew formed late last year, its members — ages 14-20 — were able to lend their support to the effort. Tom Ehmann, an Eagle Scout and incoming Serra Club president, coordinated the crew.

The youth and young adults cooked and served nearly 100 people including the bishop, Fr. Paul Sullivan, director of vocations; four other priests; 12 seminarians, four Poor Clare Sisters of Perpetual Adoration; one novitiate and Serra Club members.
