NFP Week
To mark the anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae, the Natural Family Planning Program of the US Bishops’ Office set aside July 19-25 as Natural Family Planning Awareness Week. The encyclical articulates Catholic beliefs about human sexuality, conjugal love and responsible parenthood.
The dates also mark the feast of Ss. Joachim and Anne (July 26), the parents of the Blessed Mother. The USCCB offers links to liturgy and prayer resources, articles, stories and Church teachings on the matter.
Be sure to check out “Escape from Fuddledom.” It’s by Mike and Sharon Phelan. Mike heads the diocesan Marriage and Respect Life Office.
By the way, the Phoenix Office of Natural Family Planning hopes to have the results of its recent survey assessing NFP practices and knowledge posted online by the end of the month. Results will help the office more effectively meet the needs of local Catholics.
