Catholic employment

Amy Caffarello, execcutive director of St. Joseph the Worker, addresses clients who used the job service agency to find meaningful employment.
Since the Diocesan Pastoral Center — where The Catholic Sun resides — is closed for a mandated furlough this week, I thought it’d be appropriate to blog about employment.
Don’t worry, I’m not working this week. I wrote this blogpost ahead of time.
We’ve reported on local employment resources in the past (more on that later). Right now, I think it’s worth a look at an employment effort in the midwest.
Employed or not, Catholic Employment Network’s “Memo from God” is worth a read. If you’re among the fortunate to still be employed in today’s economy, consider praying for the unemployed.
Here’s a recap of what’s going on locally to help Catholics get or stay employed:
- Help wanted, Help received — Parish ministry aids Catholics in job hunt
- St. Joseph the Worker helps employable workers such as those between permanent homes and those just released from jail, re-enter the workforce.
- HireACatholic.com is a fairly new online directory that aims to keep Catholic-owned businesses alive.
