You may have read an issue or two ago about the Knights of Columbus convention coming to town. Since eyes will soon be fixed on Catholic men in the area, I’m taking a moment to highlight their counterpart: Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

The Arizona group recently held its 25th state convention in the Valley. Women from as far as Yuma, Prescott Valley and Winslow gathered in Mesa to focus on the conference theme, “Mary, Help us keep the fires burning” and to elect new officers.

Susan Mone’, from the Our Lady of the Desert court in Mesa, was elected state regent. She’s a third-generation Catholic Daughter following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, each of whom, have about 50 years of ministry  under their belts.

The Catholic Daughters is the largest Catholic women’s organization in the U.S.
