Looking for some ways to reflect and grow this Lent?

Here are but a few online resources offering daily reflections:

The Lenten season — The USCCB site is chalk full of resources

xt3′s Lenten calendar — xt3 presents daily readings, podcasts and even humor

A modern LentFood for the Poor offers daily Lenten devotions and challenges to live the Gospel. Also worth checking out: its online Stations of the Cross

Lenten music — Includes links to a new CD recording of actor Liam Neeson narrating the Stations of the Cross.

Still wondering about these resources? Learn a bit more.

Ok, so here’s the full scoop:

  • The Lenten season — The USCCB’s Lenten Web site offers resources for parish leaders and the every day Catholic on how to make the next 40 days more meaningful. It offers daily text and audio podcasts of the Mass readings and a daily video reflection, thanks to the Catholic Communication Campaign. You can also link to the pope’s Lenten message and his encyclical letters. As you prepare for the sacrament of reconciliation, consider downloading Fr. Thomas Weinandy’s Examination of Conscience. It’s broken down roughly by age and marital status.
  • xt3′s Lenten calendar — Like it did for Advent, the Catholic social networking site is offering a daily Lenten calendar. Open to all — no login required — the calendar offers daily readings, podcasts, videos and quizzes. “But 40 days ‘in the desert’ without any laughs?” the Ash Wednesday entry reads, “In our weekly Lenten feature, we’re asking comedy TV starts ‘Does God have a sense of humor?‘”
  • A modern Lent — Food for the Poor offers daily Lenten devotions featuring a snippet of the Gospel reading and a related offering for Catholics to make each day. Hear Glacia Robinson’s song of thanks in times of struggle. Pray a modern Stations of the Cross by putting people — typical of those Food for the Poor serves — in Jesus’ shoes along every step toward Calvary.
  • Lenten music — Actor Liam Neeson teamed up with Little Lamb Music to create “Praying the Way of the Cross,” the third recording project in three years by the Redemptorist order in Denver. Proceeds aid its missionary work. Here’s a brief story about the album.
