Posted by : ambria

Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted led a prayer and dedication of 1st Way pregnancy and resource center yesterday. The event marked the completion of renovations to serve more women facing unplanned pregnancies.

1st Way of Maricopa County offers free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds.

Each year for the last three years, the 3,500 women who came to the center near downtown Phoenix for a free pregnancy test and counseling have been  forced to share one bathroom. 1st Way finally had enough funds to gut the inside, build a new bathroom and completely renovate the counseling rooms.

The bishop led staff and volunteers in a prayer of thanksgiving Feb. 24 for the thousands of babies saved from abortion in the ministry’s 36 years of operation.

“Our building is beautiful now,” said Kay Allen, executive director. “And we are preparing for an increase in our client numbers since the HOPE Ultrasound Mobile Unit will statistically increase our numbers four-fold.”

1st Way is currently training doctors, nurses and volunteers to prepare meet the growing client-base. Allen plans to have the mobile ultrasound machine up and running at outside local abortion clinics within three months.
