Front Page, Feb. 5 issue of The Catholic Sun

We’re finishing up proof-reading and laying out the Feb. 5 issue of The Catholic Sun. It’s a pretty packed 28 pages, filled entirely with local news. Here are some of the stories you’ll find inside:

Coverage of all the events marking the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, including a Mass for the Unborn, a prayer vigil outside a Planned Parenthood in Tempe, a concert and a eucharistic march up A-Mountain.

Gina Keating profiles a young man who has dedicated his life to fighting abortion through education.

Coverage of some Catholic Schools Week activities like the Mass at the Cathedral and rally in front of the state capitol. There are also some stories describing how schools took the week’s theme — “Catholic Schools Celebrate Service” — to heart.

JD filed a story from the border about a binational immigration initiative the Jesuits recently started.

Ambria describes how the Charity and Development Appeal helps local Catholic schools.

Joyce profiles a Catholic woman who serves the community as a hospice nurse.

Becca interviews a Catholic actress who will be appearing in the romantic comedy “New in Town.” She also gives high marks for the Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson film, “Last Chance Harvey.”

There are a number of other great stories in the issue, as well. In fact, some of them exist as more complete versions at www.catholicsun.org, simply because we couldn’t fit everything into 28 pages.
