Jan. 15, 2009 issue of The Catholic Sun.

Jan. 15, 2009 issue of The Catholic Sun.

Last issue we featured a lot of event coverage from across the Phoenix Diocese. This issue has much more advanced coverage, previewing upcoming events.

We have stories previewing the upcoming Charity and Development Appeal, the pro-life activities marking the Jan. 22 anniversary of Roe v. Wade and the annual Mass in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. And that’s just on the front page.

You’ll find more advance coverage on page 2-3 — including information on the  Jan. 20 Red Mass for lawmakers and Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 25-31. This is part of our mission at The Catholic Sun — to help you get more involved in the life of the Church.

The issue also has our regular features: Andrew Junker reviews a book on the rosary, Rebecca Bostic reviews “Slumdog Millionaire” and Joyce Coronel interviews pro-life advocate Melanie Pritchard.

Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted take up the history of Vatican II in his regular column and Mary Moore discusses the humility of the Three Wise Men in hers.

Ambria Hammel profiles the Catholic involvement in the upcoming P.F. Chang Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon and Chris Benguhe shares his experience of the light rail. You’ll find these stories and more in the upcoming issue of The Catholic Sun, which will be in your mailbox next week.
