Salute to altar servers

Posted by : ambria

I just returned from the Mass for altar servers at Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral. The pilgrim Mass invited altar servers throughout the diocese to visit the diocese’s mother church for fellowship and prayer.

The cathedral will continue to invite groups for special Masses throughout the Year of St. Paul. I don’t know the exact age ranges yet, but it seems there were servers of about 8 or 9 years old through adult both serving on the altar and worshipping with 100 other Catholics from the pews.

Altar servers throughout the diocese gathered for a Mass in their honor this morning. I know it's small and some faces are blocked, but see if you recognize anyone.

Altar servers throughout the diocese gathered for a Mass in their honor this morning. I know it's small. but see how many you recognize. Fr. Rob Clements, rector of the cathedral, celebrated the Mass. Going off memory, he said altar servers came from the following parishes: Ss. Simon and Jude Cathedral, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Thomas Aquinas in Avondale, St. John Vianney in Goodyear, St. Gregory, St. Augustine, St. Catherine of Siena, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glendale and San Francisco de Asís in Flagstaff.

Thought I’d share the photo with you as really large group photos are tough to get in the paper…action shots are usually more engaging.
