In memory of fallen officers
You probably already heard about the Arizona Department of Public Safety officer who was killed in the line of duty Monday afternoon while carrying out an air rescue atop a mountain in Sedona. DPS officer/air rescue paramedic Bruce Harrolle, 36, now joins the growing list of names of law enforcement officers who will be remembered during this year’s Blue Mass of Thanksgiving.

Phoenix Police Lieutenant Stephen Soha leads honor guard members of various law enforcement agencies before the 2006 Blue Mass.
This annual liturgy celebrated at 10 a.m. the Tuesday before Thanksgiving — Nov. 25 this year — gathers law enforcement officers and paramedics across Arizona. The men and women in blue celebrate their greater fraternity and pay final respects to active and retired members of the force who passed away throughout the year.
In addition to the annual Mass, the local Church is there for public servants — Catholic or not — in search of spiritual help or simply a listening ear to get them through the grief they encounter on a regular basis. I spoke with two local Catholic chaplains last year prior to the Blue Mass. Read what they had to say.
