Free ‘Bella’ screening this weekend

Posted by : ambria

For those of you who missed ‘Bella’ when it hit Valley theaters last October, here is your chance. The Third Day Harvest Worship Center in Mesa is offering a free showing of the inspiring film that addresses friendship, family and the joy of human life.

While I am one of those Valley people who missed the film in major theaters, our Rebecca Bostic didn’t. She reviewed it and even got a behind the scenes look at its making from the filmmakers.

The film takes audiences through the lives of two people in New York after one of them learns she is expecting a baby even though she hadn’t planned on being a mom. She wants to have an abortion.

Bostic said “Bella” has “careful artistic precision” and that many hailed its positive messages about the value of life.

That’s why actor and producer Eduardo Verastegui hopes that when the film is over, audiences will leave “wanting to love more, they will leave wanting to forgive more, they will leave wanting to inspire, to use their talents to do something positive for the world,” he said.

“Bella” will be shown at 5 p.m., Aug 30 at the Third Day Harvest Worship Center, 1306 W. University Dr. (near Alma School Rd.) A Q-and-A and a testimony from a woman involved with Silent No More Ministries, which offers both healing after an abortion and pro-life outreach.

It looks like the sanctity of life will also be addressed the following weekend in the Valley as Arizona Right to Life presents “Building a Legacy of Life: Empowering America’s Leaders”  during its annual conference.

It will be held Sept. 5-6 in Scottsdale with speakers from 40 Days for Life and Physicians for Compassionate Care presenting keynote addresses. There are special tracks for youth, families, scholars and activists.

It’s been a good year for the culture of life, let’s keep up the good work.
